The second day of a search and rescue operation has concluded in Southland, after a fisherman was reported overdue late Sunday.
The 29-year-old Southland man was believed to be fishing off rocks in the Fortrose, Stirling Point area.
Police said 19 staff searched the Slope Point area today, which was very rugged with parts inaccessible by foot, however did not find him.
Police visited the area last night and found the man's car and some fishing gear.
A helicopter assisted with the search on Sunday, but found nothing.
Police said the search would resume tomorrow along the coastline.
