Three injured in Mossburn crash

Three people are injured, one seriously, after a car hit a tourist bus in Mossburn this morning.

The three were all occupants of the car, which went through a give way sign about 8.35am and hit the bus at the rear causing the bus to be flipped on to the right side wheels and shunted off the road, police said.

The 21-year-old male driver of the car and a 17-year-old male passenger both received moderate injuries, while a 16-year-old male passenger has serious injuries. All were taken to Southland Hospital.

All 17 passengers on the 'AwesomeNZ' bus, en route from Queenstown to Te Anau, were uninjured and have been transported to Te Anau by another bus.

Speed and alcohol are thought to be factors in the crash.
