Two people have been seriously injured in a crash in Southland this afternoon.
A police spokeswoman said emergency services were called after a car with two occupants went into a ditch at Opio, near Nightcaps, about 2.30pm.
One person was trapped for a time but has been freed.
St John said both people were in a serious condition, and a helicopter had been dispatched.
