The fight against cancer is at least $73,000 better off after Wanaka's Relay for Life at the weekend.

Hundreds of walkers and runners in teams spent 24 hours treading a ``circle of life'' on Pembroke Park.

They included the "family and friends'' team which was the winner of the best-themed team prize, for "lighting up the track''.

They are (above, from left) Karen Studholme, Susy Rankin, Harper Chaney (2), Angela Studholme-Chaney, Gayle Kitto, Lana Cameron, Piper Cameron (3), Robyn Tamati, Jude Johnson, Kachlin (2) (obscured) and Zivi Rankin.

Among the teams were five from Mt Aspiring College, one from Mt Cook, a team that raised more than $11,000, a team in full firefighting gear and Mitre 10 manager Mark Watson, who ran more than 100km in the 24 hours.
