Edgewater is familiar territory for Mr Stock, who was general manager there from 2003 to 2014.
He replaces current general manager Colin McClean on March 6.
Mr Stock’s current role is general manager at Holiday Inn Remarkables Park in Queenstown.
Last year, he also worked as senior accommodation manager for the Fifa Women’s World Cup.
Prior to that, he held management roles with Skyline Enterprises (then Heritage Dunedin Leisure Lodge and Blue Peaks Lodge & Apartments) and The Hermitage — Aoraki Mount Cook.
Edgewater board chairman Andy Macfarlane said Mr Stock was passionate about Wānaka and Edgewater, which is undergoing a refurbishment programme while remaining open and operational.
Mr McClean had "adeptly led the hotel for the past 18 months; through the post-Covid recovery phase and managed the early stages of the refurbishment programme", Mr McFarlane said.
Edgewater is a 4 star, 103-room hotel situated directly on the shores of Lake Wānaka and attracts guests year-round.
The hotel is owned by shareholders across 65 unit titles, who appoint a board to govern the hotel operations
