What do you do in your spare time if you are a chef in a Wanaka cafe?

Cycle round town cooking and selling hot dogs made to a Hungarian recipe — at least, that is what Wanaka-based, Hungarian chef Gergely Nagy does when not cooking or fishing.

Mr Nagy designed and built his mobile barbecue single-handed, and is becoming a fixture at Wanaka functions, including the new Wheels at Wanaka Show at Easter.

Mr Nagy has overcome the problem of hills by adding an electric motor capable of handling all but one of Wanaka’s steepest streets which, unfortunately for him, is the very street he lives at the top of, requiring a circuitous route home at the end of a hot dog day.
