A section of Ardmore St along the lakefront in Wanaka is likely to remain closed for several more days despite the flood waters having receded.

Queenstown Lakes District council spokesman Jack Barlow said the block from Dungarvon St to McDougall St was shut to allow heavy machinery to move freely and clear up the pedestrian pathway and car parks.

He said more than four trucks and associated machines had been operating over the course of the clean-up process and more than 60 truckloads had been taken away already.

"At an estimate, it appears we are about three-quarters of the way through the clean-up process’’, he said.
