With the Treble Cone Ski Area yet to open for the season, all eyes will be on the sky tomorrow.

The MetService is forecasting snow to 1800m today and 1400m tomorrow.

Treble Cone stretches from its base at 1250m to the top of the field at 2088m, and is overdue for a good fall of natural snow to add to snow-making.

Meteorologist Lewis Ferris said yesterday a big high pressure area was moving on, and an active front was likely

to produce heavy rain in Westland.

The amount of snow would depend on how much of the front crossed the Southern Alps.

After the front passed, more settled, cold, clear, non-snow days and nights are expected from Thursday.
