The Queenstown Lakes District Council announced yesterday it was seeking a sole provider to cover a three-year term starting in July, the same as the majority of other councils had employed across New Zealand.
Council general manager community services Thunes Cloete said the new swimming pool, located next to the Wanaka Recreation Centre in Three Parks, provided an opportunity to expand an essential community service in a brand new facility.
``School rolls in the Upper Clutha continue to grow and so it follows that more children wish to attend swim school.''
``Council is seeking one provider with proven experience in delivering quality learn-to-swim services on a scale matching Wanaka's demand,'' Dr Cloete said.
Those interested in submitting a proposal for delivering the service can download the expression of interest information pack from the council's website.
Expressions of interest close at 5pm on Monday, April 9.
The council expects to announce the outcome following its meeting on Thursday, May 3.
The construction of the pool is expected to be completed by late May.
