The Breakers have turned to an unusual avenue to help revive their season - television commentator Casey Frank.
Frank, who calls the club's home games, has been picked up as short-term cover for the injured Alex Pledger and is set to play two games for the Australian NBL champions.
The power forward was part of the Breakers' inaugural side in 2003 and played for the Kiwi club again in 2005, last testing himself in the ANBL with Gold Coast in 2009.
With Pledger on the sidelines for at least the next fortnight with an ankle injury, the club are desperate for some size and, at 2.03m, Frank will provide that.
Pending approval by the league, Frank will suit up for the Breakers against Melbourne on Friday night.
