She is only the sixth bowler in the centre to reach the milestone and won her 15th title with Carolyn Crawford when they beat Jan Barclay and Lorraine Turnbull (Taieri) 24-11 in the final of the champion of champions pairs.
It was special to Hynes because she has suffered from ill-health and this was only her sixth time on the green this season.
"It means a lot to me to get back on the green. The win has made it doubly sweet," she said.
Eight of her titles have been won in partnership with Crawford, who notched up her 18th win to rank third on the all-time list.
Hynes (nee Potbury), the former cashier at the School of Dentistry, has played bowls for the past 18 years.
"My husband died suddenly 21 years ago and friends invited me to play bowls," she said. "It took me three years to come to terms with his death before I started bowls."
The sport helped to lift Hynes' spirits.
"I just love the game," she said. "I like the challenge.
Every day I go out its different.
About 90% of the game is in your head; your shots are worth 10%."
Hynes was skilled at netball in her youth and played for Otago in the 1950s. She first played the game when she was a pupil at Macandrew Intermediate.
She won her first centre title in the champion of champions triples in 1997.
Her fifth title and gold star was won in the open fours in 2002 and she won her 10th title in the triples in 2008.
Hynes is in her third year as a Bowls Dunedin selector and has helped to lift the competitive standard of women's bowls in the region.
She won the New Zealand fours title in a composite four when the championships were held in Tauranga in 2003.
