He has drawn the toughest of the four groups for section play. It includes six New Zealand representatives and Kerry Becks, who was one of Canterbury's top bowlers before shifting to Dunedin.
Four of the New Zealand representatives were in the Black Jacks team that competed in the invitation tournament in the United Kingdom last winter.
In his previous two tournaments, Will has beaten New Zealand representatives Shayne Sincock, Mike Kernaghan, Jim Scott and Terry Scott.
''I will go out there and try to cause an upset,'' Will said.
''My goal is just to win a game.''
This is the third time Will has competed in the event. He finished third in the plate in 2010.
''It's great playing in the tournament. It opens your mind up to a different style of play. I thought I was going OK against club bowlers in Dunedin. It's a lot tougher standard when you are up against some of the world's best bowlers.''
The big difference Will found was the consistency of the top bowlers. They rarely played loose bowls and short bowls were a no-no.
Will (23), a Dunedin accountant, started playing bowls at St Peter's College in Gore eight years ago and competed at the New Zealand secondary schools championships three times.
He joined the North East Valley club when he was studying commerce and accountancy at the University of Otago.
Will has a family pedigree in the sport. His great-grandfather, Jim Will, was a life member of the Gore club. He played with his grandfather, Stuart Will, at the Riversdale club.
It has been an eventful year for Will. He started work as an accountant in Dunedin, was elected to the board of Bowls Dunedin, is secretary of the North East Valley Club and became a premier rugby referee.
A highlight for him was to be elected to the board of Bowls Dunedin at such a young age.
''I just want to find my feet at the moment and get used to the processes. There are a couple of things that need to get changed but I'm not prepared to go public just yet.''
Will played openside flanker for the St Peter's College First XV and has been a rugby referee for five years. He made his premier debut in Dunedin this year.
