West Indies' batsman Ackeem Auguste gets himself in a knot evading a delivery during his side’s second one-day international against New Zealand at McLean Park yesterday.

After rain in Napier, the match started two and a-half hours late and was reduced to 34 overs a side. Black Caps captain Mitchell Santner won the toss and elected to send the Windies in to bat, the visitors making 247 for nine from their alotted overs.

In reply, the Black Caps got off to a flyer, openers Devon Conway and Rachin Ravindra putting on 106 before Ravindra fell for 56 from 46 deliveries.

Will Young (11 from 14) and Mark Chapman (duck) then fell in quick succession, and when Conway (90 from 84) played a vicious cut shot off Shamar Springer, only to be caught sharply by Roston Chase at point, the Black Caps started to feel the pressure.

They then lost Michael Bracewell (11 from 12), bringing in Santner (34 from 15), who paired with Tom Latham (39 from 29) to see New Zealand home with three balls to spare.
