Australia's fall from world cricket's pinnacle has been highlighted following the annual International Cricket Council awards in London.
All-rounder Shane Watson was the sole Australian to feature in the roll call for cricket's best over the past 12 months, named in the one-day team of the year.
Watson was chosen in a team dominated by World Cup winners India, with MS Dhoni named the team's captain and Virender Sehwag, Yuvraj Singh and ZaheerKhan also selected.
Australia is trying to rebuild its shattered reputation as cricket's best after losing Test series to India and England in the past 12 months as well as having its 12-year reign as one-day world champions ended at this year's World Cup.
Not surprisingly the awards were dominated by England, who have risen to the top of the world Test rankings after crushing series wins away in Australia and at home against India.
Jonathan Trott was named ICC cricketer of the year after 12 months where he compiled 1042 runs at an average of 65.12, including four centuries and three half-centuries, in 12 Tests.
The South African-born batsman also played 24 one-dayers, hitting 1064 runs at an average of 48.36 with two centuries and nine 50s.
Alastair Cook, who plundered 766 runs at 127.66 during last summer's Ashes series in Australia, was named ICC Test player of the year.
Cook and Trott were joined by team-mates Stuart Broad, Graeme Swann and James Anderson in the world Test XI of the year, which also included four South Africans.
Sri Lanka, where Australia are currently touring and hold a 1-0 series lead going into the final Test in Colombo from Friday, were also represented at the awards with Kumar Sangakkara named captain of the Test team of the year.
Sangakkara, who will play his 100th Test in Colombo, also won the people's choice award and the one-day player of the year gong.
