Cricket: Mustard in for Aces

English batsman Phil Mustard has been announced as one of the Aces overseas professionals for the HRV Cup.

Mustard, who will be available for the Aces' first game at Eden Park on December 21, has played 12 internationals for England and toured with the national side the last time they were in New Zealand. In his recent county season at Durham, he had an average close to 50 and a strike rate of 143.

Aces coach Paul Strang was confident that the Englishman would fit in well at the Aces.

"We're looking forward to his arrival and think that he'll be a great addition to the side," Strang said. "He's played at the highest level and will bring the attitude and determination that goes with that. He's also a proven performer at the top of the order which is what we need for the HRV Cup."

Mustard is also looking forward to the chance to get involved with the Aces

"Back in 2008 I played a couple of T20s and ODIs for England out in New Zealand and had a great time so I am very excited to be joining the Auckland Aces. They showed what a good side they are in the recent Champions League in South Africa with the wins over Sialkot, Hampshire and Kolkata Knight Riders."
