West Indian seamer Jason Holder will join the Otago Volts for Saturday night's HRV Twenty20 final in Hamilton.

The Otago Cricket Association signed Holder (22) after learning of his availability in recent days.

OCA chief executive Ross Dykes said the side needed added experience in the bowling stocks with the unavailability of Nathan McCullum, Jimmy Neesham and Jesse Ryder due to national duties, and Ian Butler's continued recovery from injury.

''Jason was keen to be involved,'' Dykes said.

''He has IPL experience and is obviously bowling fit as a result of the current series.''

In 35 Twenty20 matches, Holder has 29 wickets at an economy rate of 7.33. Holder's CV includes appearances for the West Indies, Barbados and the

Chennai Super Kings in the IPL and last year's Champions League.
