The Fifa Under-20 World Cup is just around the corner. What do we know about the four teams being hosted in Dunedin? In part three of our series, Hayden Meikle profiles Mexico.

The country
Enchiladas, burritos, tacos, quesadillas . . . nom, nom, nom.

Oh, and Mexico is obviously known for more than just food.

It's the most ''mainstream'' of the four nations coming to Dunedin and by far the most populous (113 million).

Mexico has a booming economy and is a mecca for tourists.

Mexico City was the first Latin American city to host the Olympics.

Bullfighting and professional wrestling (lucha libre) are popular.

And the answer to that tricky question is, yes, Mexico is in NORTH America.

Football history
Mexico hosted the World Cup twice - just 16 years apart. Only three nations have made it out of the pool stages in each of the last six World Cups: Brazil, Germany . . . and Mexico.

''El Tri'' have twice risen as high as No 4 in the Fifa world rankings.

The Mexican under-23 team won Olympic gold in London in 2012.

The Aztec Stadium is the third-biggest football ground (105,000 capacity) in the world.

Great players
Hugo Sanchez was the only Mexican named in Pele's list of the 100 greatest footballers.

The leading scorer in Mexican history is Jared Borgetti, on 46 goals.

Cuauhtemoc Blanco, Luis Hernandez, Claudio Suarez and flamboyant goalkeeper Jorge Campos weren't half bad. Rafael Marquez, Javier Hernandez (Chicharito) and Carlos Vela are more recent stars.

Previous tournamentsThe Mexicans have qualified for 14 of the 20 Fifa Under-20 World Cup tournaments.

They finished second to the Soviet Union in the inaugural tournament in 1977, and were third in 2011.

These kids
Mexico scored 18 goals at the Concacaf under-20 championship and conceded just three.

The spine looks particularly impressive with defender Rodrigo Gonzales, midfielders Hirving Lozano and Erick Gutierrez and striker Alex Diaz all named in the all-star team at that tournament. Another striker, Diego Gama, has been playing for Atletico Madrid's B side.
