No decision on date for rescheduled game

A decision has not yet been made as to when Southern United's rescheduled game against Auckland City will be played.

The two sides met at the Caledonian Ground on Sunday, but the game was abandoned after the pitch was deemed unplayable in the 47th minute.

Rain had fallen steadily throughout the game and resulted in the pitch becoming waterlogged.

The decision means the progress in the game was nullified.

It is not likely to be until next week that a new date is set.

Both teams and Football New Zealand were working through possible dates and venues.

Rescheduling may not be easy, however.

A midweek game could be the only option, as both teams play every weekend - barring the Christmas and New Year break - through to March.

Neither team has a game scheduled for the first weekend of March.

However, that is typically the window for the OFC Champions League, for which Auckland City has once again qualified.

The score was 0-0 when the sides left the pitch on Sunday, Southern having been in a strong position against the defending champion.
