Twenty-eight players lined up in the tournament. The top five qualified to go to the final qualifying round in Cromwell on February 24.
The best performer was Patston, who recorded a 68, while Callum Judkins (Otago), Turner and Ryan Bellamy (Templeton) all recorded 69s. Kayne Wardell (Allan Grange) notched a 70 to be the final qualifier.
Qualifying tournaments were also held in Auckland, Paraparaumu and Christchurch yesterday. The New Zealand Open starts in Arrowtown on February 27.
