Chisholm’s Pegler still unbeaten but St Clair Blue wins the day

St Clair Blue is set to make the semifinal playoff after beating the Chisholm Links team  3 to 2 at St Clair on Saturday.

Chisholm’s No2, Jason Pegler, remains unbeaten during the series but might be kicking himself after missing a 1.5m putt on the final green that would have given his team a half.

The missed putt allowed St Clair Blue No2 Conor Jamison to secure the half to give his team three points to remain clearly in third place.

Cody McMullan at No1 had a 2 and 1 win over Brent Butler while the middle order for St Clair of Jakob Bleach and Joseph Hancock both posted wins.

Meanwhile, cellar-dweller St Clair Gold held Island Park to a half on the Waldronville nine-hole course.

Island Park was battling on its home course and looked like going down despite convincing wins by Monty Wong (No1) and Captain Michael Minty at No3.

For St Clair, Luke Worthington, Parker Aluesi and Callum White posted good wins, leaving the match between the No4 players to decide the outcome.

Jarden Hammond came home strongly, playing the homeward nine three under par to beat St Clair’s Nathan Swift with one hole to spare.
