Despite the 12.5-3.5 margin, Otago manager Lisa Joyce was pleased with the result as she sees continued improvement in a new-look Otago team.
''Of the games we lost, six went to the final two greens and I feel the players are starting to get some self-belief,'' she said.
''Several of the players have grown in stature since we played in the Toro national event last December.''
In particular, Joyce heaped praise on Jo Hicks-Beach despite the No 1 losing both her games.
She played par rounds in the morning and afternoon only to lose both games on the final green.
''Her afternoon opponent, Angela Gerken, birdied the 17th hole which cost her the match.''
Sally Shaw and Tracey Storer both had wins in the morning while schoolgirl Annabel Evans beat Fiona Murray in the afternoon.
