Michael  Weastell has been appointed as a professional at the Golf Warehouse which is scheduled to open in the former Dick Smith building in Cumberland Street in mid-October.

Weastell (26) is the club manager at the Chisholm Links Golf Club but will leave that position at the end of September.

When he left school, Weastell worked part-time in the Chisholm professional shop while studying accountancy as a part-time student at the University of Otago.

In 2011, Weastell started his professional traineeship under the guidance of then professional Andrew Whiley but he moved to Queenstown's Kelvin Heights course to complete his training.

Weastell became a NZPGA professional class AA and was the assistant professional at Kelvin Heights in Queenstown for two years.

He took up his position at Chisholm Links four months ago and is looking forward to the new challenge.
