Hooker Aaron Heremaia's return is the only change to the New Zealand Warriors' line-up named today for their National Rugby League match away to Newcastle on Sunday.

Heremaia was originally selected to face the Gold Coast last Sunday, but stayed in Auckland because of what the club described as a family tragedy.

Until his withdrawal, Heremaia hadn't missed a match for the Warriors since 2009. He appeared in all 25 fixtures last year and in the first eight this season.

Interchange forward Ukuma Ta'ai, who returned to Auckland after the 34-14 win over the Titans because of a family illness, has also been included in the squad to face the Knights.

Heremaia and Ta'ai are due to rejoin their team-mates later in the week.

Heremaia's inclusion means Alehana Mara, who started against Gold Coast, moves to a five-man bench.

Victory over the Titans was the Warriors' fifth win in their last six games after starting the year with three defeats.

It was also the first time they had come away from Skilled Park with the competition points and it lifted them to eighth, one spot above the Knights, who are coming off a bye.

Cleary said Warriors' performance against the Titans was much improved from their win over Penrith the previous week, as it had needed to be.

"Obviously we're in a better position than we were after the first few weeks of the season but we still have to keep working really hard if we're to benefit," he said.

"The Knights have been going well so far this season and they'll be refreshed after the week off."

Rather than return home after beating the Titans, the Warriors have opted to stay in Australia for a week-long camp.

They have moved base from Surfers Paradise to Tugun and will travel by road to Newcastle on Thursday.

Of the 17 players still in Australia, 13 of them travelled to Ipswich yesterday to visit schools in a region devastated by Queensland's floods this year.

Skipper Simon Mannering, Lance Hohaia, Lewis Brown and Ben Matulino were all rested after playing two matches in less than 48 hours.

The four had backed up after taking part in the Kiwis' 20-10 Anzac test loss to the Kangaroos on Friday night.
