Grant, who had an impressive season for the Southern Steel in the recent ANZ championship in defence, played as a goal shoot for the first quarter in Southern's 56-53 win over Uni-Albion.
Grant, teaming up with goal attack Rihi Salter, steered the Southern side to a six-goal lead by the end of the first quarter.
She then left the court to rest an injured leg, but that six-point gap proved too much for the Uni-Albion side to peg back.
Shooting 11 from 15, Grant showed she was no novice in the attacking circle, and was a handful for the Uni-Albion defence, as her side went to the first break 18-12 ahead.
Uni-Albion won the second quarter by 15-11 and the last quarter by one goal, but the slow start to the match cost it any chance of winning the game.
Southern was ahead 29-27 at half-time.
Grant returned to the court later in the game, playing at the defensive end of the court.
Southern coach Georgie Salter said there was very little between the two sides, and she had had to juggle players who had played all week for the successful Otago side at the national under-21 champs in Hamilton and returned home late on Friday night.
She said Debbie White had a strong game in her return to the club side after an injury-marred season with the Steel.
Millie Lees had a strong game feeding the ball through to the shooters.
In other games, nothing could separate Physed A and College A, the sides playing out a 43-43 draw.
Physed C had a 69-49 win over Physed B, while Southern B beat Uni-Albion B 44-38.
