In the under-19 decider against Otago, Auckland-Waitakere led from start to finish, winning 39-34, and in the under-21 final it prevailed 40-30 against Southland.
In the early game, Auckland-Waitakere's under-19s started strongly, setting a high standard for Otago Gold.
Auckland Waitakere goal shoot Geneva Tavita proved a formidable opponent for Otago goal keep Anna Pawson, the former playing a major role in the circle and contributing greatly to her team's 12-6 first-quarter lead.
After a disappointing opening stanza, Otago clawed its way back into the game through a solid defensive effort, which inspired its attack line and helped it narrow the gap to two points, 18-16, at halftime.
In the third quarter, Auckland-Waitakere regained its ascendancy and quickly went out to a seven-goal lead.
Auckland-Waitakere's star goal shooter of the first half, Tavita, was replaced by 16-year-old Phoenix Karakau, a late addition to the squad who graduated from her region's under-17 team.
She quickly asserted her dominance and helped her team maintain its advantage for a 30-23 lead at three-quarter time.
Otago found some form in the opening exchanges in the final period of play. However, due to some tight marking from Auckland-Waitakere, Otago was stifled in the mid court and was unable to consistently feed its shooters, but still managed to draw the quarter 9-9.
The under-21 final was also dominated by close marking and Auckland-Waitakere took until the final quarter to subdue a feisty Southland.
Southland's goal keep, Grace Power, who plays club netball for University Albion B in Dunedin, punched above her weight against some skilful Auckland-Waitakere shooters. Her tireless performance and eye for the ball caught the northern team's more favoured attack line napping.
However, a poor shooting performance in the second half by her team-mates proved costly and relegated Southland to runner-up.
