
The team went down 64-45 in the first game on Friday night and then lost 63-47 in the second on Saturday.
Bloxham said a couple of players had slight niggles so did not play.
Kiana Pelasio and Renee Sava’inaea were both nursing ailments.
"At one stage we had six players suited up who had not played in the ANZ Premiership so we were really missing some experience," she said.
"But the good thing for the weekend to take away is we got everyone out there on court and it gave them experience at playing at that level."
With the injuries, and being cautious, the Steel was forced to bring in some players from outside the training group.
Bloxham said they did extremely well.
In the second game, the Steel played well in the first half and was down just 33-28 at halftime.
But in the third quarter — as it had in the first game on Friday night — the Tactix built on the lead.
The Cantabrians pulled away in the final quarter for the victory.
Bloxham said despite her side going behind in the second half of both games it managed to stick to its structures and stay strong. There was no sense of panic.
Goal attack Tiana Metuarau had a full game and impressed.
Bloxham said the side just needed to keep working on its combinations and maintain its structures and relate them to playing in a game.
The Tactix fielded most of its top line-up although Silver Ferns defender Jane Watson did not play in Saturday’s game.
The Steel will head to Queenstown this week and will play the Pulse on Thursday.
The pre-season tournament will be played the following weekend at Otaki.
Steel shooter George Fisher, who plays for England, arrived in New Zealand yesterday to begin her two weeks in isolation before linking up with her team-mates in Invercargill.
