Steel to face off against Tactix

The new-look Southern Steel will have a chance to test itself in March.

A pre-season double-header has been confirmed for the side against the Mainland Tactix in Timaru.

The teams will meet at 6pm on March 12, before playing again the next morning at 11am.

It will give the Steel a tough opponent to prepare against, the Tactix having made last year’s final.

The Tactix have since added Silver Fern Karin Burger, although have lost defender Temalisi Fakahokotau to the Magic.

Meanwhile, the Steel are bringing in five new players in its biggest squad overhaul in more than five years.

The two teams will then meet on the opening weekend of the ANZ Premiership, at Stadium Southland on April 18.
