The South Pac Titans Tāiko overcame the Southern Magpies 55-51, in a very close match in the Dunedin Premier Netball competition on Saturday.
South Pac led 19-15 at the first break, and continued to push ahead, with the halftime score sitting at 28-24.
Goal attack Christina Cotton was dominant in the shooting circle for South Pac, scoring 13 out of 14 attempts at goal, for a 92.8% shooting accuracy. Gianna Leoni, who also played goal attack, was equally impressive, converting 100% of her shots.
South Pac’s momentum carried into the third quarter, extending the lead to 42-36 at the final break.
Defensively, the combination of Tarryn Dickson and Puawai Shortland played a crucial role in shutting down the Southern Magpies’ potent attack. Their efforts helped South Pac maintain their advantage.
On the other side of the court, the Southern Magpies’ defensive duo of Georgia Cournane and Rebecca Mace proved tough opponents, limiting the South Pac shooters despite their impressive accuracy.
In other round eleven action, University Albion A delivered an outstanding performance, defeating College A 50-38. Meanwhile, Physed A claimed a dominant 65-41 victory over University Albion B.
