
The Dunedin Olympian won bronze in the women’s 800m freestyle in 8min 11.76sec in Toronto at the weekend.
Deans produced another three personal bests at the world cup — being held in the short-course format — including going under the 4min mark in the 400m freestyle for the first time.
She finished fourth in the middle distance with 3min 29.89sec and came eighth in the 200m freestyle with 1min 55.27sec.
It brought Deans’ medal total to four after winning bronze at the first two stops in the United States.
She won bronze in the 400m and 800m in Carmel and bronze in the 1500m in Westmont.
Former Dunedin swimmer Erika Fairweather also added more silverware to her collection.
She won silver in the 400m freestyle in 3min 56.12sec and the 800m in 8min 9.69sec. She won bronze in the 200m freestyle in 1min 52.71sec.
Australian Mollie O’Callaghan set a world record on the way to her gold in the 200m, finishing in 1min 49.36sec.
Australian Lani Pallister also set a world record in the 800m in 7min 54sec and a world cup and Oceania record in the 400m in 3min 51.87sec.
Kiwi swimmer Cameron Gray set a national record in the men’s 50m freestyle, clocking 21.17sec to finish eighth.
He shaved 0.15sec off the record he set on the second stop of the world cup tour with 21.30sec in the heat. He lowered the record again in the final.
