Gymnastics: British coach conducting three days of clinics

Top British gymnastics coach Mike Weinstock is holding three days of clinics in Dunedin at the weekend and on Monday.

He has coached gymnastics to children in Staffordshire and taught teacher educationcourses for Midlands Universities for 29 years.

Since 2002, he has been a specialist gymnastics link teacher with the Sandwell Education Authority. There are 66 primary and nine secondary schools in the partnership, which helps teachers deliver a high-quality gymnastics programme.

In the last 10 years he has worked with more than 150 teachers and 7000 children and produced gymnastics resources for teachers in schools.

Weinstock has accompanied British teams to major international competitions, such as the world and European championships and the Commonwealth Games.

Group sessions, covering the basics of gymnastics, will be held at the Willis St and Vogel St gymnasiums over the next three days.

Weinstock will be assisted in his clinics by Dunedin elite coaches Carmel Leslie and Angharad Wintle.
