Phillips was part of a strong New Zealand under-17 team who produced some brilliant results to return home with a silver medal from the tournament.
Dunedin was well represented during the tournament with eight of the 14 players selected for the squad hailing from the city.
They stamped their mark, too, winning three MVP awards through the tournament.
Phillips, who attends Otago Girls’ High School, was the MVP against Australia; Therese Tili, of Trinity Catholic College, was named MVP against Tahiti; and goalkeeper Anika Franklyn, from Bayfield High School, was named MVP against Fiji.
