Trio start season in style

Athletics Otago opened their interclub track and field season at the Caledonian on Saturday.

Among those competing were:

Hill City-University athlete Toby Martin flying over the bar in the men’s 18-19 pole vault ;

Jamin Millar, of Hill City, winding up in the men’s under-20 hammer throw; and

Jess Lake, of Cromwell, concentrates during the women’s under-20 hammer throw.

Martin cleared the 3.80m mark to win the event, 70cm ahead of his closest competition. Millar threw 42.18m to win his division and Lake finished with 28.20m to win as well.

It was a fine event to start the track and field season.

The junior interclub season start this weekend.

Seniors can also compete this weekend, as they work towards the Postal Throws (November 24-26) and the Ness Cup the same weekend, followed by the New Zealand secondary school track and field championships starting on December 8.
