Queenstown snowboarder Tiarn Collins is on top of the world again.

Collins won the Czech Republic round of the FIS snowboard slopestyle world cup in Spindleruv Mlyn yesterday.

The 22-year-old celebrated the second world cup win of his career, which pushed him to the top of the leaderboard with just one event left in the season.

"I’m so stoked — I wasn’t expecting that," Collins said.

"I wasn’t even going for the win. I just wanted to put something down and it worked out."

The course in Spindleruv Mlyn was a little different from what boarders usually see on the World Cup circuit with just one rail feature at the top of the course and a second rail feature inserted halfway down between jumps.

Qualifying second in his heat, Collins knew he would have to give it everything to land atop the podium in the 16-man final.

Sitting in sixth dropping into his second and final run, Collins laced together a technical run that he executed to near perfection to the delight of the crowd cheering on from the bottom.

The judges rewarded him with a 90.25, the only score in the 90s handed out in the final.

William Mathisen (Sweden) and Luke Winkelmann (US) were second and third respectively.

The final event of the world cup season is this weekend in Silvaplana, Switzerland, where Collins will join other New Zealand snowboard and freeski athletes.

Collins’ last world cup win was at Calgary, Canada in February 2020.

The 2017 world junior bronze medallist finished 18th at the Beijing Winter Olympics, missing the final.
