A lively northeaster with a wind speed of 25 knots made life on the water exciting for the competitors of the New Zealand slalom windsurfing championships, who reached speeds of over 50kmh.

Annie Crombie (Christchurch) retained her lead in the open women's grade after 18 rounds from Sue Bradley (Queenstown) with Lucy Waters (Wanaka) and Nicola Taylor (Christchurch) sharing third spot.

Defending champion Gareth Wood (Dunedin) retains his top spot in the open men's grade but Rowan Law (Perth) has moved up to second with 2009 winner James Dinnis (Taranaki) third.

Laurence Carey (Auckland) still leads the youth section from Dan Meehan (Dunedin), with Tom McGregor (Christchurch) third.
