The Hogans signed off by producing the three top-priced lots of the day, all by their resident sire, Tavistock.
Before their stock went under the hammer under the Cambridge Stud banner, the couple were honoured for their contribution to the sales of more than 30 years.
Sales company New Zealand Bloodstock presented the Hogans with a trophy engraved with the details of the 24 yearlings they have produced who have topped the sale over the years. Among them was the Zabeel-Diamond Lover colt, later named Don Eduardo, the Hogans sold for $3.6million in 2000 who holds the record for the highest price fetched at the sales.
The Hogans and the Cambridge Stud brand are synonymous with excellence and innovation in the breeding and selling of thoroughbred yearlings.
Cambridge Stud has been the leading vendor on aggregate for an incredible 32 years.
The Hogans bow out of their sales involvement under the Cambridge Stud banner after selling the stud to Brendan and Jo Lindsay who take ownership of the business in April.
The Tavistock filly from Special Diamond, sold by Cambridge Stud, was the highest-priced yearling sold yesterday.
The China Horse Club paid $975,000 for the filly from the legendary Eight Carat family.
In the premier section of the sale, 539 of 700 catalogued yearlings sold for a total of $83,549,000.
Yearlings averaged $155,007 and there was an 82.5% clearance rate.
The top lot was the Savabeel-Katie Lee colt, sold by Canbridge Stud to David Ellis, of Te Akau Racing, for $1,025,000.
