The Glitzy One's run for fifth in the listed Marton Cup on Saturday was enough to convince Anderton to press on
to the group 2 Wellington Cup (2400m) on January 26 with the daughter of Flying Spur.
''She seems to have come through her run very well,'' Anderton said.
The early pace - or lack of it - in the race threw Anderton's plans, along with those of jockey Rosie Myers, upside down as the mare was forced to go forward and sit outside the leader, Spiro.
''She's always been better when there's a bit of pace up front and she just sits in behind them,'' Anderton said.
Instead, Myers was caught wide on the muddling pace and had only two options.
''She was going to be caught three-wide whether she went back or forward,'' Anderton said.
The pace was so lacking through the first half of the 2200m affair that the stipendiary stewards addressed the riders following the race about the excessively slow pace early, and the potential danger of horses over-racing behind the leaders, causing problems for jockeys.
Anderton understands the circumstances did not pan out for The Glitzy One, and will be sticking with Myers for the $200,000 stayers' test.
A change in the weights now has Anderton considering a Wellington Cup run with The Solitaire as well, as she is now set to carry 56kg if Anderton opts for the cup.
She will tackle the Trentham Stakes this Saturday before Anderton makes his final call between the Wellington Cup or the International Stakes (2000m, weight-for-age) at Te Rapa in February.
''We'll just see how she goes, but with the weights now, we're leaning towards the cup a little bit.''
The Glitzy One is weighted at 53kg in the Wellington Cup.
