Rudkin travels south from Riccarton with three runners, including the promising 3yr-old Honor That who will have her second go at starting her 3yr-old career at Wingatui.
The daughter of Darci Brahma came to Wingatui last month but Rudkin was forced to late scratch her after she picked up a bump before the meeting.
Honor That ended her juvenile season on a low note, finishing 13th in the Ryder Stakes at Otaki, but her previous form had been excellent, including a win at Ashburton in early July, two seconds and three fourths.
''Let's hope she can show us what she showed last time,'' Rudkin said.
''She's a real toughie and her only failure was the Ryder - it was just too wet for her.
''She drew the outside gate and it was too heavy for her.''
Honor That has copped a slightly wide draw of 8 in the 12-horse field. Wider gates can be slightly awkward from the 1200m start point at Wingatui, but Rudkin expects it will suit her racing pattern.
''She does get back, so midfield probably [would suit] and she always runs on at the finish.
''Hopefully she doesn't get too far back but you can always run on at Wingatui. It's really how she jumps, I suppose.''
Honor That has no key spring features on her radar, with Rudkin's gaze more towards the late summer.
''It really depends on how she comes up. I didn't nominate her for the 1000 Guineas, but after that there are the 3yr-old races like the Gore Guineas and that sort of thing.''
Rudkin rates Ina Jam (race 5) as the best of his chances tomorrow as she looks to bounce back from a 12th at Ashburton last week.
The 5yr-old copped a check shortly after the start of the rating 65 2100m with Matt Cameron on board.
''He tried to ride a race on her, but she got a decent bump at the winning post the first time, which put her off balance and back through the field a wee bit too far.
''When she tried to sprint, everyone else was sprinting and she was flat footed.
''That's the only reason I backed her up - she's pulled up like she didn't have a race.''
Rudkin expects the daughter of Duke Of Marmalade to land closer to the speed from barrier 4, and she should suit the riding style of Terry Moseley.
Her four starts prior to the Ashburton failure had produced three thirds and a win.
Rudkin said Galaxy Gardens, who resumes from a short spell, is ''hard to get a line on''.
''But she does go well fresh - she goes on any sort of going and hasn't done much wrong, to be fair.''
Dontpokethetiger is Rudkin's sole representative over the weekend. She will carry 54.5kg in the listed Wellesley Stakes for 2yr-olds at Trentham.
Rudkin feels she should not be out of her depth up against North Island company.
''I think to be fair, she's on a par with everything else.
''I reckon she's got more pace than I thought she had.''
