Flyin Courage is back in work with Waikouaiti trainer Bruce Negus, with trotting his sole aim.

Flyin Courage mixed his gaits last season, winning three times from 24 starts as a pacer and once as a trotter at his ninth start at that gait. He started twice at both gaits in the same day on five occasions.

Negus began racing Flyin Courage as a trotter in March in the expectation that he would race better as a pacer later in the programme.

"Every time we changed his routine, he seemed to perform better," Negus said.

The approach was successful and Flyin Courage won as a pacer at Forbury Park in June after finishing third as a trotter earlier in the night.

The Courage Under Fire-Amanda The Princess gelding has won seven races as a pacer.

He pulled a muscle in his hind quarters after success as a trotter at Oamaru late in May.

"He was due for a spell so we gave him six weeks off," Negus said.

"We will bring him up trotting this campaign and give him the chance to make his mark at that gait."

Terry Chmiel is the new driver for Ima Gold Digger, who resumes racing at Addington tomorrow night. Chmiel has been driving Ima Gold Digger at workouts and trials. The gelding was unbeaten in four appearances in the past month.

Ima Gold Digger, who has not raced since April last year, has been driven in eight of his 15 wins by Ricky May.

Todd Mitchell drove Ima Gold Digger in six wins when he was trained by Michelle Wallis. Dexter Dunn drove Ima Gold Digger in his other win.
