Franco Emirate leaves Christchurch for Sydney today and begins an Australian campaign at Menangle on Saturday night.

The Jim Curtin-trained, Russell Nieper-owned pacer, is in the group two $A77,500 Bohemia Crystal Free-For-All (2300m, mobile) on Saturday night.

Franco Emirate has drawn two.

He won the junior free-for-all at Addington on New Zealand Cup day (November 8) then finished second to Smoken Up in the New Zealand Free-For-All three days later. He has won 14 of his 22 starts.

Curtin said Franco Emirate would travel to Melbourne after his race on Saturday night for the Cranbourne and Victoria Cups.

Curtin said he was "a bit gutted" at his drive, Terror To Love, being required to start from seven on the front line in the Miracle Mile on Saturday night.

"It will be extremely hard from out there," he said.

Luke McCarthy has confirmed to the owners of Franco Jamar that he will drive their horse in the Miracle Mile. Franco Jamar has drawn the outer in the eight-horse field.

He won the Coca-Cola Sprint at Menangle in 1.52.2 on November 12.

McCarthy is the trainer of Franco Jamar and Mr Feelgood, who won in 1.51.1 last Saturday.

Anthony Butt is driving Lisagain and Darren Hancock is on stablemate Raglan.

• The sale of Armbro Demon has fallen through and she will continue racing for Oamaru owner-trainer Chris McLeod at Addington on Friday week.

"She had some wear and tear on a cartilage on a knee and it may have been an issue later on," McLeod said when referring to the possible sale.

"The vets have told me it can be treated simply." Armbro Demon recorded her fifth win in eight starts when successful over 3200m at Addington in 4.05.4 on New Zealand Cup day.

• Jack Morris, of Loburn, trained his first winner yesterday when Sunbrite was successful at Addington.

Morris took over the training of Sunbrite last season. The Britewell gelding won at Ashburton in June last year when trained by Gary Cron. Morris has been training off and on since the 1991-92 season.

A horse by the name Jack Morris won the Interdominion Final in Brisbane in 1993. Jack Morris was a gelding by Surmo Hanover from Belinda Morris bred in NZ.

The late Jack Morris was racing editor of the Otago Daily Times for several years.

• Cutie Patootie, an acceptor at Forbury Park tomorrow night, is now trained by Craig Buchan at North Taieri. Cutie Patootie, who finished third at Oamaru on Saturday, has won twice from the Highbank stable of Carl Middleton.

Motu Speedy Star has his first start from the Oamaru stable of Eion Latimer tomorrow night.

Motu Speedy Star, who last raced on September 9, won four races for Ian Cameron.

Tennis Ball, who won the Green Mile at Methven 12 months ago from the stable of Brendon Hill, is now with Gavin Smith at Ashworth's Beach.

Jaccka Justy is back with Riversdale owner Charlie Smaill. Jaccka Justy won his two starts when prepared by Smaill during the winter.
