The Flying Spur mare has drawn well in barrier six for tomorrow's $55,000 listed feature over 2200m and trainer Steve Anderton said she and stablemate The Solitaire had taken in their new surroundings at Howie Mathews' Otaki stables with minimal fuss.
''[The Glitzy One] has done really well up there,'' Anderton said.
''They both had a gallop yesterday[Wednesday] over 1400m and they worked really well. She's all set for Saturday. She's got a good draw and Rosie Myers is going to ride her.
Anderton had offered the ride to Chris Johnson, but was unable to get a definitive answer, so opted for Myers, who is yet to ride for the Anderton stable.
The Glitzy One drops 1.5kg from the 55.5kg she carried to victory in the Otago Cup on Boxing Day, and the presence of former Wellington Cup winner Spiro assists the 5yr-old in a way.
''With Spiro there in the race, it puts everyone down in the weights,'' Anderton said.
''It probably inconveniences those bottom horses, because some of them are only a kilogram off the likes of The Glitzy One.''
All of those horses on 53kg - Mungo Jerry, Ascolini, Inanoff, Polyantha and Medici - are well down the order in the nominations for the Wellington Cup and will rely on a win or other horses to be pulled out in order to make the field for the Trentham feature.
The Glitzy One holds a nomination for the group 2 Wellington Cup at Trentham on January 26 but her run tomorrow will decide her immediate fate.
''She's got to measure up - it's a bigger step up for her now,'' he said.
''She's got to go fairly good in the Marton Cup and then we will make a decision after that. There is the option if she doesn't go as good, to bring her home for the Dunedin Cup but at the moment we'll just see how she goes.
The Solitaire is still on target for the group 3 Trentham Stakes on January 19, and Anderton said she was thriving in Otaki.
''She'll have another hit-out on Tuesday. She's done really well,'' he said.
The 5yr-old O'Reilly mare is also nominated for the Wellington Cup, but a good performance in the Trentham Stakes would see her travelling further north to Hamilton.
''There is a plan maybe if she goes good enough in the Trentham Stakes to head to Te Rapa for the Darci Brahma International Stakes [on February 9] but she is still in the Wellington Cup at this stage.''
