Racing: Meeting moved from Wingatui

The Otago Racing Club meeting scheduled for Wingatui on April 22 has been transferred to Oamaru as New Zealand Thoroughbred Racing and the club plan a further inspection of the track.

The club's April 9 meeting was abandoned after A Bob Short slipped in race 6.

Adam King, of the National Racing Bureau, said subsequent inquiries with the club, the RIU, trainers and the New Zealand Jockeys Association had found no obvious cause for the incident and, given similar incidents at the track recently, a further investigation involving the analysis of soil samples was required.

There were no amendments to the published programme and nominations would close with the NRB on April 17 at noon.
