There is more than just another win at stake in race 9 at Ascot Park tomorrow.
Harness Jewels spots - most notably in the 4yr-old pacing mares categories - are also on the line as a field of 11 face the tapes over 2700m.
Three of the contenders tomorrow have little to worry about, other than getting themselves into form.
Al Raza - who starts off the backmark of 50m tomorrow - is safely locked in for a start in the opening race on Harness Jewels day at Ashburton on May 30, sitting fourth on the standings.
Sheeza Shark gets a 30m handicap tomorrow but is also safely in the final 12 for the Harness Jewels, sitting ninth, while Delightful Dash is eighth on the leaderboard and is best placed off the handicaps tomorrow on 20m.
While fitness and confidence-building runs are the main aims for those three, Leigh Major has a little more at stake.
The Brendon McLellan-trained mare sits precariously in 12th place, less than $600 ahead of Gracious Star in 13th spot.
Gracious Star is in an amateur drivers' race at Oamaru on Sunday and a first or second could leapfrog her into 12th if Leigh Major fails to get any part of the cheque at Invercargill.
Ironically, it is a horse who is just outside the cut-off for the 3yr-old emerald category who could upstage them all.
Regal Ideal sits in 17th in the sophomore male pacing category and he will be relying on withdrawals to make the field, even if he claims the $4685 winning stake.
He starts off the front mark tomorrow, with red-hot driver Dexter Dunn in the sulky as he marches towards 200 season wins once again.
Other horses on the fringe of qualifying for Jewels starts at Ascot Park are Starlight Starbright, who sits 11th in the 3yr-old ruby division.
The Ricky Allen-trained trotter is a safer bet to make Jewels day than tomorrow's race rival Mass Invasion, who is 16th in the 4yr-old ruby division and can finish only 13th at best on the division leaderboard.
