Apprentice jockey Courtney Barnes has seven chances to end her season in style at her home track of Wingatui today.

Barnes (20) has collected 33 wins this season - 10 better than last year - and, while she did not have a figure in mind at the start of the season, she is pleased with her year's work.

''I'm pretty happy with that. I wanted to lose my 2kg claim, so I did that,'' Barnes said.

Barnes has a strong book of rides today, headed by Fly Me To Da Moon and Drumregal.

Fly Me To Da Moon (race 4) is one of three rides Barnes has for Riverton trainer Stephen Blair-Edie, who has been ''pretty good'' to Barnes lately.

The 5yr-old mare won at Riccarton in June and got the tick from Barnes for her effort to win over 1800m on a heavy Riccarton track.

''I was pretty impressed with her. It was the first time I rode her.

''She loves the really hard-going tracks, so she'll handle it tomorrow and she's got a nice weight in it.

''It's not a massive field and Gold `N' Cash should put a bit of pace in the race, so I think she should be right in it.''

The Terry Kennedy-trained Drumregal is carving out a fine record, and is a past winner at Wingatui. She steps up to the rating 85 grade today, but Barnes thinks she can measure up in her new grade after copping seven rating points for her win at Ashburton on July 4.

''She should be right in it again this week,'' she said.

''She's only got 54kg to carry this week as well. It is a step up in grade but I think she will handle it, and it will help being her home track too.

''She's got a really nice record and I really like her.''

Another galloper who should suit the Wingatui track is Additup, who blew his rivals apart three starts ago at Oamaru before battling at Riccarton and Ashburton.

''Puggy tracks have caught him out the last couple of starts. It's raining here now, so tomorrow it should be a lot looser and I think that will help him out a bit.

''It was my first time on him [at Oamaru] and I didn't know a lot about him, so I was pretty impressed.''

Lord Yarborough (race 5) might need the fresh-up run, but All In Touch (race 1) should relish the track conditions, and Catalan King (race 3) will be asked to make the most of his barrier draw.

''With the barrier draw of one and stepping up over a mile, I'll be looking to hunt him out of the gates and putting him right in the race.''

Barnes rounds out her season on Aint No Lollygagga (race 7), who is trained at Wingatui by Paul Richards.

''She's got a nice draw so she should be right in the trail or the one-one,'' she said.

''She'll be right up there in the race. It's her home track and she's got a bit of a record there now, so she's a chance, as well.''

Apprentice jockey Racha Cuneen begins a two-riding day suspension tomorrow after admitting careless riding at Ashburton on Friday.

Cuneen, riding Plays Until Dark in a 1200m maiden, shifted out with 600m to go causing Courtship to be checked.

Cuneen can ride again on August 7.
