Mosgiel rugby fans mobbed a pack of visiting All Blacks yesterday morning.

More than 1000 schoolchildren and adults greeted Andrew Hore, Ben Smith, Ben Franks and Tamati Ellison at Peter Johnstone Park for the "All Blacks flying into your town" promotion.

"What a great day. The Dunedin weather has been amazing lately, eh," All Blacks and Highlanders winger Ben Smith said while signing autographs.

"It's always great to see the support for the All Blacks from people of all ages like this."

The players appeared in their new AIG-sponsored All Black gear.

The quartet were nearly All Black and Otago team-mates after Franks flirted with the Highlanders last month, before signing for the Hurricanes for next season.

Taieri Rugby Club president Warren Grant said the response had exceeded all expectations.

"It's a fantastic turn-out. It was a NZRU initiative to get the All Blacks around to smaller areas and it's a privilege to host an event like this," he said.

"We invited all the local schools and community and our life members had morning tea with the players."

The players left Dunedin airport at 12.30pm after signing autographs and taking photographs with children.

All Blacks also made flying visits yesterday to Kerikeri, Wanganui, Taupo, Whakatane, Hawkes Bay, Blenheim and Leeston.
