Franks did not play against the Highlanders last night because of a shoulder injury and Crusaders coach Scott Robertson said he had a scan on his shoulder.
Robertson was coy on the injury and said it would be reassessed in a couple of weeks. The Crusaders have the bye next week.
The Crusaders coach said Franks, a tighthead prop, had wrenched his shoulder and he would be given time for a rest.
It would be scanned again in a couple of weeks to see how the shoulder was healing.
He was limited in what he could say as there was not a lot known about the injury.
Franks is heading into his third World Cup and is a key part of the All Black picture. It is concerning to have a shoulder injury less than six months out from the World Cup.
