Rugby: Read in strong side to face Highlanders

The Crusaders have named a powerful-looking side to take on the Highlanders in Christchurch tomorrow night.

In the only changes to the side which walloped the Blues a few weeks ago, No 8 Kieran Read comes back after recovering from a pelvis injury, with captain Richie McCaw moving back to the openside flank, while in the front row, Ben Franks comes on to the tighthead side.

Franks replaces brother Owen, who moves to the bench.

Matt Todd also moves to the bench to accommodate McCaw.

Dan Carter is in his usual first five-eighth position after flirting with the No 12 jersey since coming back from his groin injury.

He will have Ryan Crotty outside him, while Israel Dagg slots in at fullback, after having started the season on the wing.

There are eight changes to the side which took on the Highlanders in the second round of the season.

The Highlanders won the first encounter 27-24 at Forsyth Barr Stadium.

Nine of the Crusaders starting side attended the All Black training camps over the past few weeks, including six of the forward pack.

The Highlanders will name their team today and should have No 8 Nasi Manu back from injury, and available for selection.
