The promising Jayden Hayward has been picked at second five-eighth for the Highlanders' second warm-up game, against the Suva President's XV, in Lautoka on Saturday.
Jason Shoemark, who played in the position against the Chiefs last weekend, has been moved to centre.
Brett Mather, who played at centre against the Chiefs, will not be travelling to Fiji.
The other change in the backline sees Mathew Berquist replacing Michael Hobbs at first five-eighth.
Hobbs is in the reserves.
The only change in the starting line-up in the forwards is at tighthead prop, with Chris King replacing Bronson Murray.
The Highlanders are taking a squad of 27 on their first trip to Fiji and the reserves are expected to play at some stage in the game.
The Highlanders are using the game to get the players used to the hot conditions they will experience in South Africa in the Super 14 competition next month.
The game will start at 1.30pm (NZ time).
