Otago representative Chris Noakes was in superb touch and scored 26 points to help University A become the first winner of the Jonathan Keogh Memorial Trophy today.
Keogh, the doughty hooker who played over 100 premier games for the students, was killed in a road accident three years ago when his car was hit by a car driven by a drunk driver.
The trophy was presented to the university club by the parents of Keogh, Ursula and Brian Keogh, during the 125th anniversary celebrations of the Otago University Rugby Club.
Noakes scored in every possible way with two tries, two conversions, two penalty goals and two dropped goals when Dunedin was beaten 31-15.
The students lead the Gallaway Trophy competition on 36 points and are followed by Alhambra-Union 30, Harbour 28, Southern 27, Dunedin 26, Pirates 19, Green Island 15, Zingari-Richmond 13, Kaikorai 10 and Taieri 10.
Four clubs celebrated their 125th anniversaries at the weekend and three of them had wins.
Highlander Ben Smith was in superb touch to help Green Island gain only its third win of the season when it beat Taieri 21-14.
A last minute 35m dropped goal by Julius Glasson gave Southern a 13-12 win over Pirates.
Kaikorai was well beaten by Alhambra-Union 32-3 and was the only club celebrating its 125th jubilee that lost.
Glenn Dickson (Pirates) leads the individual points scoring with 82 points and is followed by Chris Noakes (University A) 79, Peter Breen (Alhambra-Union) 74 and Cam Rutherford (Kaikorai) 64.
Dynamic wing Karne Hesketh (Alhambra-Union) has scored the most tries with nine and is followed by Harbour centre Siaosi Folau eight, Dunedin wing Tumua Ioane seven.
