A clinical Taieri team scored six tries when they beat Alhambra-Union 34-14 in Dunedin club rugby today.
The best player for Taieri was centre Kieran Moffat, who scored two tries and always looked dangerous with the ball in hand.
Taieri lead the Gallaway Trophy competition with 69 points and are followed by Southern 58, University A 50, Dunedin 49, Harbour 47, Alhambra-Union 41, Kaikorai 37, Zingari-Richmond 28, Green Island 6, Pirates 6.
It took a dramatic comeback by University A in the second spell to beat Kaikorai 42-30 at the University Oval.
Hooker Sam Sturgess played a key role in the students' comeback by scoring two tries.
Lock Martin Swaffield and wing Rowan McKenzie scored three tries apiece in Dunedin's total of 10 when they beat Pirates 64-14 at Kettle Park.
Harbour scored eight tries in beating Green Island 43-7 at Miller Park.
The scores were: Taieri 34, Alhambra-Union 14; University A 42-Kaikorai 30; Dunedin 64- Pirates 14; Zingari-Richmond 17-Southern 16; Harbour 43-Green Island 7.
