One-two result for Dunedin

Dunedin swimmers claimed a gold-silver quinella on day two at the national open swimming championships.

Carina Doyle and Erika Fairweather finished first and second respectively in the women's 200m final in Auckland.

Doyle, who is from Dunedin but now represents the North Shore club, took gold with a classy swim.

The Commonwealth Games representative finished in 2min 00.27sec.

Neptune's Fairweather delivered a just as impressive display.

The 14-year-old held off North Shore's Amandika Atkinson to finish second by 0.21sec in an age-grade national record of 2min 02.56sec.

That also resulted in her achieving the selection time for both the Youth Olympic Games and Junior Pan Pacific Games in the event.

Neptune's Ben Carr claimed his second medal of the championships in a thrilling 100m butterfly final. He touched the wall at exactly the same time as North Shore's Wilrich Coetzee to tie for first in 52.21sec.
